The movie takes place in the 1930’s.  It begins with a group of filmmakers looking for a lost island (Skull Island) that can’t be found and people that have gone looking for it never came back.  Carl Denham (the character who is the director) is looking for this island to shoot his next film and is hoping he is going to make a lot of money from it. When the group eventually find the island they run into some trouble and end up getting stuck on rocks that surround the island, that’s when and then the true story begins. Up until the point where they get on the boat, the movie has been a little bit boring (it just doesn’t seem to click really well). So without ruining the whole movie, I will change to a different aspect of the movie.

You will need a large block of time to watch this movie because it  is 3 hours and 8 minutes long and you are going to want to watch it all the way through and not stop once you start it. The thing that makes this movie so long is that some of the scenes, like the one where Kong is on the Empire State Building, are overdone and seem to go on and on. I would describe some other parts but I don’t want to ruin the plot and this one is already in the previews.

Now, this movie was made in the year in 2005 so the cinematics should look good meaning you shouldn’t be able to tell when they are on a stage filming the movie or on location. However, there are parts that you can tell without looking hard at all. This is a disappointment with all the technology available now. But all fight scenes and shots of Kong out in the open with other large animals do look real.

So, I would give this movie an 8.0 out of 10. The problems I mentioned do hurt the rating because they are the most essential components to making a good movie.  But if you want to look overlook them and concentrate on just the main plot, then this movie is really good.
