Mad Catz® Announces New Line of Licensed Super Street FighterTM IV Accessories

Mad Catz® Interactive, Inc. (AMEX/TSX: MCZ), a leading third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider, today announced the release of the licensed Super Street Fighter™ IV Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition “S” available in one of two unique designs along with new character artwork for four newly licensed FightPads. Both the new Tournament Edition “S” and FightPads will be available on both the Microsoft® Xbox 360® and Sony® PlayStation® 3 systems.

Continuing the legacy of the award winning original Street Fighter™ IV Tournament Edition FightSticks, the Tournament Edition “S” introduces an all new “Slim” design FightStick casing and will be available in a choice of two distinctive designs, each adorned with official artwork provided by Capcom® and taken directly from the new Super Street Fighter® IV game.

The new Tournament Edition “S” uses the same premium Sanwa Denshi™ Japanese style ball-handled joystick and 30mm action buttons found in official
Street Fighter® IV arcade machines. Furthermore, the realistic action button spacing and arcade style eight-button layout provides gamers with the highly authentic arcade experience.

Using the integrated control module, dual turbo functionality can be assigned to any of the action buttons, ideal for learning the moves and combos of the new characters introduced in Super Street Fighter IV, while the D-Pad control switch allows for the joystick to function as left and right analog stick or D-Pad, proving suitable for a variety of software. Lastly, the unobtrusive placement of the start and select/back buttons on the rear of the FightStick, along with a locking mechanism located on the control module, prevents accidental interruption of game play, perfect for those who take Street Fighter seriously.

Alongside the release of the new FightStick, Mad Catz anticipates releasing four new Super Street Fighter IV themed FightPad designs for Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 systems. With the same shape and features which made the original Street Fighter™ IV FightPad a critical and commercial success, the FightPad is an ideal alternative for gamers who favor a traditional console controller. The enlarged circular eight-way floating D-Pad and arcade style six-button configuration remain firmly in place but now gamers can collect four new eye-catching designs featuring the return of iconic characters Ryu and Ken as well as new characters T. Hawk and Juri.

Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz commented, “As the leading manufacturer of FightSticks for the Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America, we are excited with the prospect of bringing new FightSticks and FightPads to the Super Street Fighter IV fan base. We look forward to the release of Super Street Fighter IV and building on our strong relationship with Capcom.”

“With much enthusiasm, our community is already anticipating the release of Super Street Fighter IV and we believe that the introduction of an all new official FightStick will only enhance what is sure to be a key release of 2010,” said Christian Svensson, Vice President Business Development and Strategic Planning at Capcom Entertainment, Inc. “We at Capcom continue to be delighted at the critical and commercial success of the FightStick range and look forward to continuing our partnership with Mad Catz.”

The Mad Catz licensed Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Fightstick: Tournament Edition “S” is due to retail for an estimated MSRP of $149.99/£149.99 and the Mad Catz Super Street Fighter IV FightPads are expected to retail for an estimated MSRP of $39.99/£39.99. All products are due to be available across North America and key European territories at the time of the release of the Super Street Fighter IV the video game.
